    Event Description:
“Midvale Irrigation District Adventure Trek” July 11 9am

In our second Wind River Visitor’s Council Adventure Trek of the year, we’ll be exploring the Midvale Irrigation District! This series of reservoirs, dams, and canals is the culmination of the promises made when Riverton was founded, and the reason largely responsible for the growth of Riverton in the 1920s and 1930s. The project consists of two reservoirs, three dams, a power station and  hundreds of miles of canals and drains. It provides water to some 73,000 acres of farmland.

On this trek, we’ll be joined by staff from the Midvale Irrigation District, who will teach us all about the project, its history, and its role in present-day Fremont County. We anticipate visiting Bull Lake, Diversion Dam, Pilot Butte Reservoir, the Pilot Butte Power Station, and looking at several sections of canal.

We’ll be meeting at 9:00 AM at the Museum, and the cost is $12/person and spots are limited. Transportation will be provided.
